I say : "DURBAN",
you say : "ROCKS!"
9/11, this year (2011) saw us celebrate Durban Life in a different way....we went to the Durban Day concert, at The People's Park, Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Getting there around 10am, in time for the Springbok's World Cup campaign opener, against Wales, we were reminded of last winter's Soccer World Cup, the first in Africa. WHAT a time that was, for Durban, for South Africa, and for Africa!
Gathering our Durban family, and some friends, and our "bokgees", we had a "jorl", from 10am through to 8pm, when the last act, Freshly Ground, wound down the event with a rendition of "Waka Waka", which they recorded with Shakira for SWC 2010....
The line-up was all-local, and all terrific - Farrel Purkiss, The Arrows, Elvis Blue, Lloyd Cele, DoubleH-P, Watershed and Freshly Ground, kept us in the mood all afternoon and into the evening, at a world class venue, with a crowd of around 8000 happy people.....completely Mom's scene......her spirit was definitely there, all day long......
IT's TIME FOR AFRICA!
